I’ll dance as fast as I can by LR On Demand is a collaboration between Lisette Ros, Gabriel Rolt and Bas Geerts. The art collective presents a new edition of I’ll dance as fast as I can, especially modified for this occasion. Rolt (guitar, vocals) and Geerts (percussions) will be providing the improvised musical accompaniment, which will form the sound field of Ros’ performance. —Visually the trio will be set in a triangular shape, with at least 2 meters distance from each other. There will be no internal interaction between the artists.
Ros, the ‘front woman’, will intent to dance as fast as she can on extremely slippery golden liquid. This leads to an inner- and physical struggle of trial and error – the act of falling, regrouping and standing up again – while her body converts into an animated golden sculpture. I’ll dance as fast as I can was conceived in 2020, during the lockdown, as a reaction to the global politics, which resulted into a performative manifest, including red slippery liquid (flesh and blood).
The accompanying sound field is divided into eight short sections. The movements are distinguished by differences in dynamics and texture.
I’ll dance as fast as I can comments, playfully, on ongoing (social) themes; including gender and sexuality. Touching filmic, cultural and historical moments, such as birth, slapstick and the rave culture.
This special edition took place on the impressive roof of Piramidón, Centre d’Art Contemporani in Barcelona, Spain, in occasion of ‘Art Nou’ Barcelona.
